My SEO email content recycling program (wow, what a mouthful) is a streamlined, well-oiled machine.
If you want a content production pipeline that gushes more content than Old Faithful, then you’ve come to the right place.
In the next 5 minutes, you can learn how to double up your content, combine it with SEO best practices, and automate social media while you’re at it.
Let’s get started.
“SEO Email Content Recycling Program”? What the Heck Is That?
“SEO” and “email” don’t usually wind up in the same sentence.
And while “SEO email content recycling” sure sounds unwieldy, it’s a good description of what my program does.
Any half-decent content marketer knows how to recycle, reuse, and redistribute content.
Not only is recycling good for the environment, it makes your marketing more efficient.
Here’s why:
Any marketing content that you write can be published … posted … tweeted … distributed … and redistributed … in a variety of formats.
For instance, marketers frequently write articles that get posted to websites and sent to inboxes.
These articles can also be published on third-party platforms like LinkedIn, Medium, other social networks, or other blogs.
To make your content recycling program SEO friendly, simply follow these steps:
-
Create an SEO content marketing strategy
-
Write keyword-optimized marketing copy
-
Distribute your marketing content via email and your blog
It’s just that simple.
However, I employ a “special SEO ingredient” that many other marketers don’t. At least, I’ve never seen anyone else do it.
Keep reading to discover what that special ingredient is…
Why I Do It
My system is certainly not perfect, but it does do a couple things well. Namely, it:
-
Gives you a daily email connection to your audience
-
Follows an SEO content strategy that works on the web
Basically it involves:
-
Writing SEO-friendly articles that get sent out by email
-
And that same content gets posted to the blog.
Simple.
Before I get to my aforementioned “special SEO tactic,” here are a few more perks to my content recycling program … and a few reasons you might want to consider implementing something similar:
- It’s a piece of cake to implement. No fancy tools required. Basic SEO knowledge is necessary, but you can find that anywhere (even here on my blog).
- It does double duty. Each article I write can be sent out via email, then posted on the blog afterwards.
- SEO is in the bag. Armed with my SEO content marketing strategy, it’s a snap to write articles that are already keyword-targeted.
Okay, now that I’ve established why I follow this setup, let’s get into the nitty gritty.
How I Do It in 3 Simple Steps
Here’s the lowdown:
1. Create an SEO content marketing strategy.
For instructions, you can read my blog post about creating your own SEO content strategy.
2. Write long-form content.
This is the “special ingredient” that lets my strategy work for email and SEO.
Long-form content refers to long articles, not 200- or 500-word posts.
The length is relative and depends on the length of competitor articles. At one time, long-form referred to 1,500-word articles … but now it could mean 3,000, 5,000, or 10,000+ words.
Why is long-form the way to go?
Because short-form can’t compete in search results.
In the SEO community, it’s pretty well-known that long-form content rules.
For years, everyone wrote 500-word articles. So then, to outrank them, the word count kept growing … and growing … and growing.
Naturally, long-form works well for SEO, but you can’t write a long-form article every day of the week.
So, to kill two birds with one stone, I:
-
Write keyword-optimized long-form articles first
-
Then split those into multiple emails
Of course, another way to do it is to write emails separately, then build them up into blog articles.
This way, I can still email daily – which is critical for any serious marketer, by the way – and create long-form, search-optimized blog articles.
3. Schedule, rinse, repeat.
As you can see, there’s not much to it.
It’s simple, effective, and useful for one-man businesses such as myself.
Conclusion: Save Pixels … Recycle
My SEO email content recycling setup is ideal for anyone who wants to implement daily email marketing, while still staying on top of their SEO game.
And, with just a few tweaks, it’s not difficult to write copy that works for email, search engines, and your website.
Oh, and speaking of email, don’t forget that I send out daily marketing tips via email.
